At UC Berkeley, Smith Group are nearing completion of the CITRIS Building, part of the School of Engineering. The school needed some finished images of the unfinished project to include in a booklet commemorating the grand opening, to be held in late February.

Most of the interiors were still being fitted out but work on the “clean” labs was almost done, meaning that we had to get into shoe covers, dustcoats, hairnets and safety goggles before entering the space. As we’d earlier been shooting out on the dusty site, we thought it sensible to put little booties over the tripod. And of course if we were going that far, it was only a matter of time before the Alpa was in a hairnet too!

In Los Angeles, Coop Himmelblau’s High School #9 is finished and waiting for its first influx of students. The long awaited project stands across the freeway from Moneo’s understated Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on the edge of downtown.
